I liked the area as there are some lovely little villages within a 20 mile radius. It was nice to see all around without having to travel far. There is lots to see and do, whatever your heart desires in almost on your doorstep. We had our dinner out in Anna's restaurant and OMG the batter is so crispy and tasty, the chips were crispy on the outside and so soft in the middle. It was such good value and sits right on the sea front.

Cockermouth is a pretty town with many buildings of interest. Wordsworth's birthplace is there, but it is closed in winter.
The rivers Cocker and Derwent flow through the town with banks of daffodils in spring.
Plenty of small shops, restaurants and traditional pubs as well as two supermarkets.

Cockermouth has potential but is in need of more eateries, we stayed 3 nights and struggled to find anywhere nice for meals. The Bush is a lovely pub with good food but that's all we had to choose in the area.

Plenty of bars, restaurants and takeaways ,and a good range of shops and supermarkets. There are parks and river walks.there seemed to be plenty of car parking although we didn't need them,so I don't know what the costs were.
The property was in a fantastic location and the hotel itself has some wonderful views. The rooms and beds were in general comfortable, but the theme of country luxury and indulgence was somewhat spoilt by the use of budget hotel fittings (like cheap branded soap dispensers being affixed to the walls in the bathrooms and plastic shelving in the bedrooms). We left an item of clothing when we departed and the hotel were quick to advise us and arrange for its return which was appreciated.
The apartment was based in an excellent location in Cockermouth as I was here for a wedding weekend. Only a few minutes walk to the high street which had some lovely bars and restaurants. The apartment was really good value for money and parking which was free of charge. The host kept us updated throughout so we knew how to enter the facility and get WiFi access. I would stay at the property again on my next trip to the Lake District.
Hidden gem, based in the centre of Cockermouth, just off the main street, with lots of choice of restaurants and pubs. Set in a quiet courtyard, this character property has been tastefully renovated and decorated, very comfortable, with both bedrooms having an en-suite and modern appliances in the kitchen. Good location for the Lake District but away from the crowds.
The hotel is located above and a bit outside of Cockermouth. However, this can also be easily reached on foot from the hotel. The location is fantastic. Very quiet area; embedded in fields and trees. The hotel has a wonderful outdoor area with a gorgious view. The room was clean and tidy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Genuinely friendly and helpful staff in the bar and restaurants. We ate dinner on two nights and the food was excellent, cooked perfectly and well presented. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel is very conveniently located within the town and there is ample parking.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the bar under the hotel is also very cute and does very nice drinks.
The centre of cockermouth is very…average. But the hotel is only 20 minutes drive to Keswick where we went for some food, as the centre of cockermouth is very small and abit meh
Location within short drive to Cockermouth in quiet surroundings and lovely view from patio and bar.
Good value meals cooked well with basic ingredients.
Very dog friendly including separate dining room for dogs accompanying guests to meals.
Plenty of parking.
Everything was perfect was nice to be greeted and shown round by Phillipa given the keys and contact number if any problems talked about the local area where I discovered 2 old quarrys to walk the dogs and felt like home from home.
The host where truly amazing and they couldn't have made me feel anymore welcome. The hotel is situated just down from Cockermouth Town, so plenty to do. The hotel was also conviently situated to visit various walking trails.
Everything, the holiday home was beautiful, the location was perfect for visiting places around the Lake District and the kical town of Cockermouth is a lovely town with shops and eating places - The Bitter End recommended
We had the breakfast at Veeva's next to the hotel which was included with the price. The choice was excellent but my wife and I settled for scrambled eggs on toast and it was beautifully served with friendly staff
Great location for the town & the wider area. Property was comfortable, decor tasteful & had everything you could want. Kitchen well equipped - including functional kitchen knives (which are a rarity !)
A very clean, friendly hotel right in the centre of Cockermouth, which has a number of nice restaurants to choose from. Excellent breakfast. Allowed us to store our bikes securely in the room.
historic, large property, clean, fully equipped and a special treat delivered part way thru our stay! We used this as a base to hike/explore the Lake District and it worked beautifully.
Breakfast was delicious and clearly quality ingredients. The room was lovely, clean, spacious and we would definitely stay again. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.
